Heyy! My name is Sarah! I live in Toronto, Canada. I'm making it easier for us to swap mega corp products for Canadian handmade products
Digital Marketing background: I've been in the online space actively posting and learning the algorithms of YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram since 2018 and have been a digital marketing assistant for 5 years. I thoroughly enjoy learning and working with the algorithm for organic marketing, but not just that. I love talented, crafty and eco-conscious people who have amazing, powerful stories. That's enough about me.
Why Handmade? : Handmade products are our future. I personally believe that mega corporations, 9 times out of 10, ruin our environment and our health. Not just that. In our consumerist society, handmade products have more meaning and will less likely end up in landfills. Handmade products are made with love, care, and usually are created and sold to help a real human being live and support their life and family. The story and person behind a product is so powerful to know and understand.
For example, one could buy 20 Shein earrings for $100 or buy 1 earring from a small business for $100. I can guarantee that the person will care more for the handmade earring purchased from a real person with a real story, with real talent. It will be less likely to end up in landfills and that person will care for it way more.
This is why I am doing what I am doing. I want to create a community for people to easily find handmade products from coast, to coast, to coast to substitute their everyday mega corporations' products, for more sustainable, eco-friendly, safe ingredients, a powerful story and the opportunity to support a real person directly.
Why Crafters Plot: This is why I started Crafters Plot this year. I want to bring more awareness to Canadian-made handmade products. I admire talented crafters from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland, and I also believe they are our future. Shop local, support local—small businesses need to be the majority again. I don't know if Crafters Plot will ever make it to a level where we can make global or even national change. However, if we just have 1,000 people changing their buying decisions from mega corps to their neighbour's small business, I will pass away a happy woman. I will be happy knowing I am/have helping/helped small businesses right here in our own communities who have amazing products, ingredients, and stories reach eco-conscious consumers who want an amazing well-crafted product.
