What started as a practical solution was inherited by her son, Jamie, as a project to teach his four children life skills. Today, run by three generations of the Lockhart and Faris families, Mitchell’s has found a new home in Aylmer, Ontario. Their commitment, however, remains unchanged. In an age of mass production, they proudly forgo shortcuts. Every dried bean, lentil, and perfectly balanced spice blend is measured and assembled by hand, with each bag lovingly tied with twine.
